Humanitarian Aid

Steve gives Australia Zoo the thumbs up Terri and the Ambos

Australia Zoo's ongoing commitment to affecting lives and making a positive impact across the entire planet extends not only to wildlife and its habitat, but perhaps even more significantly to the humans whose charge it will be to protect that wildlife. Through their lifetime of work striving to protect animals and wilderness areas, Steve and Terri have found that some of the most profound neglect and ill treatment of wildlife occurs in places where human suffering is so intense, that there can be no possibility of compassion for other species.

It is the Irwin family's firm belief that to help people is to help wildlife. Their immense dedication to humanitarian aid in many forms and for many people around the world runs parallel to their mission of conservation through education.

Wish Granting

Wish Granting

The Irwin family and Australia Zoo are dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. Our involvement with charity organisations such as the Make-a-Wish and Starlight Foundations dates back to 1994, and has continued to grow and make an impact on the lives of these special children and their entire families.

Royal Children's Hospital

Royal Children's Hospital

BW Croc, the cuddliest crocodile at Australia Zoo, loves putting a smile on the face of every child she meets! But not only does BW bring joy and laughter to the children who visit us at the Zoo, she also ventures out on day trips to the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane.

Tsunami Appeal

Tsunami Appeal

In late January 2005, representatives from Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors Worldwide visited tsunami-devastated areas of Aceh. The purpose of the trip was twofold: to deliver urgently required veterinary supplies for elephants working to recover bodies from the disaster area, and to provide humanitarian aid to forest guards and their families affected by the disaster.

Other Aid Activities

Ballsfor East Timor

While Australia Zoo is known worldwide for paving the way in conservation, Steve and Terri's efforts do not just stop there. Not only are they true wildlife warriors, they are constantly being recognised for the charitable work that they take part in daily. Australia Zoo actively supports many organisations, both large and small, from all over the world.

Leukaemia Foundation

Off with the hair for such as good cause

Twenty years ago, patients diagnosed with Leukemia faced a slim chance of survival. Today, thanks to medical research and breakthrough treatments, around seven in every 10 children and three in every 10 adults survive acute Leukaemia after treatment.

Fundraiser Donations

This little boy is stoked with his free pass to Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo is contacted daily by charities right across the world, seeking merchandise for them to raffle or auction in aid of their charity. Australia Zoo generously responds to all of the requests in whatever way we possibly can!

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established after Daniel Morcombe, an 11-year old Sunshine Coast boy, was abducted while waiting for a bus on a busy highway in our local area. He is still missing.
